This space brings together a series of works created from a crossroads: images generated with artificial intelligence and texts—concepts, poems, narratives—written in my own voice. They are not autonomous images nor isolated texts; they are hybrid pieces where the algorithm and memory engage in dialogue, creating tensions and, at times, mutually correcting one another.
Artificial intelligence, like all emerging technologies, is not neutral. Its development entails concrete material costs: the high energy consumption of data centers, the intensive use of water to cool systems, the extraction of natural resources, and the carbon footprints associated with its infrastructure. It also carries ethical problems: biases in datasets, the invisibility or distortion of Black identities, and the reproduction of historical hierarchies within automated systems.
In response to this, my practice does not seek to celebrate technology without questioning it, but rather to intervene in it. To humanize it. To insert into it fragments of experiences, history, and sensibilities that were not inherent in its origin. If the algorithm learns from archives, then it too can be reoriented by intention.
These works are attempts to reinscribe representation: to inhabit an imperfect tool to produce images where black people are not stereotypes or absences, but dignified, complex, and expansive presences.
